Community Orchard

The first sixteen trees were planted in the Bramerton Community Orchard on 5 March 2016 by a band of local volunteers – all members of Bramerton Society, and two days later a further three were planted with the help of children from Sunbeams pre-school.  The trees, which were all two years old when planted, are a mix of apples, pears, plums and cherries.  You can find a diagram of the trees that have been planted by clicking here  Orchard planting diagram 07 03 16

The community orchard is on land adjacent to the allotments on the northern side of Hill House Road and the eastern side of Mill Hill.  You are welcome to go along and take a look at  the trees ,access is via Mill Hill through a pedestrian gate.  The orchard is managed by the Bramerton Society.

Funding for the orchard has been provided from money donated to the village by Anglian Water, and from money raised by the Bramerton Society. If you would like to contribute to the orchard, for example by helping with pruning, grass clearance etc or with a financial donation please email edutech@btinternet.com.

Former phone box

On 17th May 2009 the phone apparatus was removed by BT along with 100’s of others up and down the country.  Following this and a local consultation, the Parish Council acquired it for its heritage value for a nominal sum.  Since then it has been used as an information point.  Do pop in if you have never done so!

It’s the “K6” model with Tudor Crown and local knowledge says that it was installed in the late 1940’s.  Prior to that a local resident recalls that to make a call you had to go inside the Post Office and make one from there.  This was prior to the time when phones were generally available.  The Post Office closed in 1968.

SAM2

In response to continuing public concern about speeding traffic in the Village, the Parish Council purchased a “SAM2” speed display and recording device.

This was made possible by a 50% grant from Norfolk County Council, through the Parish Partnership Scheme.

SAM2 machines alert passing motorists about their speed of travel, particularly if they should “SLOW DOWN”.  Vehicle speed data is recorded and downloaded, this informs the Police and the Bramerton Community Speed Watch Team of the need for further action.

Remember, PLEASE DRIVE SAFELY through our Village.
