Bramerton Speed Watch

The Speed Watch organisers are looking for more people to join  so that we can make Bramerton’s roads safer for walkers, cyclists and runners, as well as our growing younger population.

Drivers breaking the speed limit are sent warning letters from Norfolk Constabulary with whom Bramerton Speed Watch work closely. Persistent offenders are visited by the police and given strong words of  advice about their driving.

The important role of the Speed Watch volunteers has been reinforced by the disturbing data from  the SAM2 (Speed Awareness Messaging) sign that is moved round the village to alert drivers to their speeds. The data is downloaded to indicate the volume of vehicles and their speeds and sent to the police.

Through additional volunteers the Speed Watch team can increase the number of sessions. Each one is conducted by three  volunteers and last no more than an hour. Warning signs are put out to to highlight their presence. New recruits will be given training and can do as many or as few sessions as they wish.

So come and help us  keep our beautiful conservation village safe.
